What is the admissions process for entry into the school?
We will arrange a private tour of the school with a member of our Senior Leadership Team. When you are happy to proceed to the next stage, you will complete a registration form and pay the registration fee. We then request a report from your child’s current school. We then invite your child to a taster day, formal assessments for Maths and English will take place for those entering the Senior School.
If you accept the offer, you will complete a contract and pay a £500 deposit. The Admissions Team will then guide you through all the next steps including welcome information, first day instructions, option choices, purchasing a uniform, booking the school coach and so on, we aim to make the transition to our school as smooth and straightforward for you as possible.
What age range of children attend your school?
We cater for children from ages 3 to 18 years.
How many boys do you have?
We went co-educational in 2019 and 35% of our school is now boys. Numbers are very healthy and do vary by year group. For example, in Year 7 and Year each year group contains between 40-50% boys.
What is your Enrichment Programme and is it included in the school fees?
We offer a wealth of diverse and engaging enrichment activities at every stage of their education, which take place during the school day. From academic activities to sports and arts clubs, our enrichment activities promote fun, teamwork and a commitment to learning and self-improvement.
Every academic term over 170 enrichment activities take place at the school with pupils partaking in a morning and afternoon enrichment club every day of the week. The offsite activities (such as horse riding and skiing) have a fee to cover transport and equipment hire costs, all other activities are free of charge.

What time does the school day start and finish?
All pupils start their day at 8:35 am for registration and the day ends at 4:20 pm in time for children to catch their coach home, which leave at 4:35 pm.
School ends at 3:30 pm on Fridays. We always plan for our sports fixtures to be timed so that children can catch their coach home.
Can my child catch the school coach?
Pupils can use our coaches from Year 1. We offer an extensive coach network for our pupils, with routes running throughout Suffolk and Essex. Only our pupils travel on our coaches, which are modern and comfortable, with each route having a dedicated driver so that there is consistency for the students.
What wraparound care do you offer?
All pupils can attend our Breakfast Club and After School. Senior School pupils are also welcome to stay for Supper or Day+, which allows Senior pupils the opportunity to stay after school for supper and join the boarding pupils in our Boarding House for the evening.
How is the school day set up?
The school day consists of five academic lessons and two enrichment sessions.
Do you have Saturday schooling?
Ipswich High is a day school and we very much like to protect your family weekends together. We do not have Saturday school or sports fixtures as we want pupils to be able to enjoy their weekends with their families and be able to pursue the things they love at weekends.
What is included in the school fees? And how much are they?
School fees include tuition, lunches, and enrichment activities plus support for those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities is also included, where appropriate.

Do you offer scholarships?
We offer Scholarships upon entry into Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12.

What awards and other offers do you have?
We offer a sibling discount of 10% for the second child, 15% for the third child and 20% for the fourth and subsequent children.
Scholarships are available in Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12. Once your child has been offered a place, for the top-performing applicants, the Headmaster may bestow an award to children entering Year 7 – Year 11, who have demonstrated outstanding performance and promise during our admissions process. This could involve means-testing.
We do not offer bursaries.
What entry points do you have for school?
We are happy to accept applications and make offers at any time during the academic year when we have space.
Children may enter the school at any point during the academic year.
Do you offer transport to and from school?
