Mr Browning joined Ipswich High School in January 2023. He was previously Headteacher of Wymondham College. Under his leadership, Wymondham College enjoyed tremendous success, being named ‘Secondary School of the Year’ and amongst the highest performing schools in the UK. Before joining Wymondham College, Mr Browning was Executive Principal of the two British Forces Schools in Cyprus, serving HM Forces, diplomats and fee paying families from across the island. Mr Browning is also a Founding Member of the Chartered College of Teaching, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, Fellow of the Institute of Boarding, ex-member of the Headteacher Advisory Board of the Princes’ Teaching Institute, Member of the English Speaking Union, ISA and Society of Heads and has been an associate member of the HMC. Mr Browning is married to Sarah and has two daughters. His beloved dog Mabel is the official ‘school dog’ at IHS.

Mrs Finch joined Ipswich High School in Spring 2019 as Head of the Prep School. With substantial and varied experience as a primary headteacher, her leadership has been described by an external review as inspirational and dynamic. Mrs Finch completed a degree in Drama and Theatre and Education, with subsidiary mathematics and physical education, at University of Roehampton (London), which has a global reputation for research and teaching innovation and cultural engagement. Mrs Finch has wide experience of teaching, across all Prep year groups, and is also a qualified SENCO. 

Ms Extance joined Ipswich High School as Director of Music in September 2009, creating and developing our unique enrichment offer before taking on the post of Head of Co-Curricular and Enrichment in 2014, and then Head of Senior School. Having trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she completed her PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge, and began her teaching career in Dorset, before taking on a post at Kesgrave High School. She is also an accomplished cellist and conductor, running a number of music ensembles both in school and within the wider community. Ms Extance is also our whole school Designated Safeguarding Lead. 

Ms Massey joined Ipswich High School in September 2023. She was previously Vice Principal of Teaching and Learning & CPD across the confederated St. John’s and King Richard School. Having gained a degree in History at Essex University, she completed her PGCE in Religious Studies at University of East Anglia. Ms Massey is an experienced classroom practitioner and has taught across KS3, KS4 and KS5. She has held a range of leadership roles including the post as Director of Teaching and Learning in a large school in Essex. Ms Massey is a keen netballer and during a career break she operated a floristry business. 

Mr Collishaw joined Ipswich High School in September 2023 as Director of Boarding and Pastoral Care. Mr Collishaw qualified with a BA with QTS in Physical Education in 2009. Mr Collishaw has held several pastoral middle leadership roles including Head of Boys Sport, Head of Year and Head of House. Mr Collishaw then moved into senior leadership as Assistant Headteacher and Head of a large Boarding House at Wymondham College, Norfolk. During Mr Collishaw’s time, Wymondham College gained superb academic results and was awarded two consecutive outstanding Ofsted inspections for boarding specifically. Mr Collishaw went on to become Assistant Headteacher responsible for Behaviour and Attendance at Fakenham Academy.  

Mr Collishaw loves sport and has played a range of sport to a highly competitive level including cricket, football, rugby, and basketball. 

Mr Speakman joined Ipswich High School in September 2021 as the Head of History and Politics. He was previously the Head of Humanities at Tendring Technology College. He gained a degree in History at Reading University and returned to Higher Education to complete his PGCE in History at University of East Anglia. Mr Speakman is an experienced middle leader and classroom practitioner and has taught across KS3, KS4 and KS5 in History, Politics and Geography. Prior to beginning a teaching career, Mr Speakman has spent time in the Defence Industry and worked abroad in Italy. As well as a deep love of History and Politics, Mr Speakman is an avid sports fan and player, including cricket, rugby, football, and swimming.

Mrs Gwynne joined Ipswich High School in Autumn 2022 as Deputy Head of Prep. She graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University with a BA (QTS) in Education & went on to complete her MA in Education. She started her teaching career at a primary school in Long Melford, before moving for a promotion to a small rural primary school in Woodbridge to become part of the Senior Leadership Team. Alex joined the staff at St Mary’s in Woodbridge in September 2008 as part of the Senior Leadership Team, before being appointed as the Deputy Head in September 2009. Mrs Gwynne enjoys any outdoor pursuits, including horse riding & riding her bike. 

Jamie is Group Finance Director for Vertas Group, a multi-service facilities management company operating across the UK. Prior to joining Vertas Group, Jamie was Deputy Chief Executive at Swan Housing Group, and before that he worked in a number of Finance Director roles in the construction sector. A qualified accountant, he sits on the board of Thrive Homes and Vertas Group and has previously held a number of board roles. Jamie lives locally and has three children. 

Kimberley started her life attending primary and secondary school in one of the most deprived wards in the country. She then went on to read History at the University of Warwick. She has had a career in education for over 13 years as both a teacher and a senior leader. Kimberley is also a former Her Majesty’s Inspector (SHMI) with Ofsted. Over time in this role, she had responsibility for Area SEND inspections, SEND, alternative provision, independent schools, complaints about schools, and inspection schedule in the East of England. She now owns and manages her own school improvement business and is a contracted Ofsted inspector. 

Neil has worked in finance for his entire career. After qualifying as a chartered accountant at KPMG, he has spent the last twenty years working as an investment analyst. Having held positions at Credit Suisse and JP Morgan, he currently works at Redburn, a leading independent equity research firm. Neil holds an MA in Modern Languages and European Studies from the University of Edinburgh and has three daughters who all attend Ipswich High School. 

Glenn has spent 30 years in the field of consultancy and software working in over 30 countries for many big brand name clients including the UK government. He was a Partner at the consulting firm Accenture and a Senior Director at the Boston Consulting Group; and is a serial entrepreneur, founding two firms – one in consulting and the other in artificial intelligence software. Glenn is the author of ‘Raindancing’ a book that sets out the case for how advanced analytics can be used to inform business decisions. He has a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from London University. Glenn has previously served as a Governor of West Mersea Primary School, a Magistrate in the City of London and a trustee of the Young Enterprise charity. 

Charlotte is a lecturer in occupational therapy at the University of Essex and has over 20 years of clinical experience. Since moving into academia in 2019, she has taught at the University of East Anglia and the University of Essex, specialising in hand therapy, occupational science, and occupational therapy theory. She is pursuing an MA in Higher Education Practice and serves on the Extenuating Circumstances Committee at Essex’s School of Health & Social Care. As a Parent Governor, she uses her expertise in health and education to support school policies and student well-being.

Andrew retired as a Headteacher after 34 years in education, including 14 years leading a secondary school. Previously, he worked as a Special Needs Teacher in both mainstream and special schools. He now works as a School Improvement Executive for a Multi-Academy Trust in Norfolk and as a consultant in Curriculum and Leadership. Outside work, Andrew enjoys visiting his three grown-up sons and spending time outdoors in the Suffolk countryside with his wife, making the most of walking, swimming, and fishing.
